But how do you get information and training to enable you to take the step and set off ‘for real’? You can of course read your favourite magazine... The internet is also full of information on various aspects. But nothing is as good as real contact between those who have left and those who dream of doing so. With this aim, the Grand Large Yachting group has for several years been offering Blue-Water Cruising seminars. On the programme, two days of exchanges, lectures and debates, with a very full programme, as most of the sets of problems linked to long-term cruising – whether you leave as a couple, singlehanded, or as a family – are tackled. The right periods for crossing the oceans (with a talk by Jimmy Cornell which is always fascinating), daily life when cruising long-term, safety, training, weather, and communications, as well as the budget, the insurances and other essential formalities are some of the themes tackled during the two days. The next seminar will be held in the Paris region on the weekend of 1st and 2nd April 2017. An event not to be missed, especially as Multihulls World is a sponsor of the event, and some of the editorial team will be present throughout the seminar.
