The aim is to beat the round the world record (Jules Verne Trophy) which still belongs to Loïck Peyron (in 45 days), and thus become the first skipper to be the fastest both singlehanded and fully-crewed. Because Joyon has also been the uncontested holder of the singlehanded record since 2008...

For this attempt, the skipper will be leaving aboard Idec Sport, his new trimaran, which is none other than the former Groupama 3, with which Cammas beat the record in 2010.

The skipper has deliberately chosen to keep the small rig from the boat’s singlehanded configuration, and thus only embark 6 crew (compared with the 10 crew aboard Groupama 3 during its successful record attempt).

A risk, but Francis is used to taking risks and above all...winning his bets!
