Within the international offering of Multihulls, the Swiss Cats have a unique position. Thanks to their superior build quality and the standard of their equipment they sit more comfortably in the "mini-yacht" category. They are clearly targeting experienced sailors who are also looking for a high performance machine. A 60 mile delivery after the Cannes boat show with a Mistral blowing was an ideal opportunity to put the brand new 45' through its paces.

A Short Swiss History Lesson

We initially presented the three main protagonists in this new project when we tested the 55'. Jurg Von Ins is the Boss and the Financier, a man whose robustness is reflected in his boats. Having spent a year voyaging on his Switch 55' (a very sharp VPLP-designed boat, built by Sud Composites in the South of France) he had the idea to launch a small range of high-end multihulls. They were conceived with blue water cruising and onboard comfort very much in mind. With a clear philosophy, there was no room for compromise. Build quality, comprehensive, well-chosen equipment, balance, performance and reliability were the priorities. The naval architect is Sébastien Schmidt, renowned as the designer of the aristocratic Décision 35' (a high-performance, single-design catamaran which along with the Extreme 40's and the AC 45's attracts some of the world's best crews). He designs for the illustrious Luthi shipyard, and his signature is on some of the most amazing racing hulls on Lake Geneva (F28', Foilers...). The third element is Christophe Buholzer.
