High season from December to April

The dry season is from April to October. It is generally the best period for sailing among the islands of the Indian Ocean, with the tradewinds setting in gradually to reach speeds of 15 to 20 knots. The temperatures are very pleasant: 25-30°C (77-86°F).
The northwest monsoon (October to April) brings short intense rains, especially in November and January. On land, the breezes cool the climate. Temperatures are stable, usually around 29°C/85°F. It should be noted that, according to the islands (Seychelles, Madagascar, Mauritius, Malaysia or Thailand…), conditions may vary considerably…

Typical itinerary

Formalities : for EU and North Americans citizens : valid passport.

Weather : The best period : All the year round. No hurricanes.

Cruising : No great difficulties during the day. Navigation is on sight and the buoyage is, for the most part, accurate.

Languages : English, French, Creole

Provisions : This is a problem in the Seychelles. All food is imported and therefore (very) expensive. Stock up with enough food at the start of the cruise, as afterwards it is difficult to find supplies…

Time difference : +2H in summer ; +3H in winter, compared to Paris.

Money : Seychelles Rupee (+/-0,15 euros). The ‘beach exchange’ is much more advantageous than the banks…but we didn’t say anything!
