Objective: Mediterranean

Objective: Mediterranean

By purchasing Franck Camass’s trimaran, the former holder of the Jules Verne and the latest winner of the Route du Rhum, Banque Populaire knew that it was offering its star skipper, Armel Le Cléac’h, a top class racing boat.

Having only just returned from the Vendée Globe, the skipper and his technical team only took three days to launch the boat, step its mast, set up the rig, embark the sails and carry out the first sea tests. And what did the skipper think of this racing machine? “Finally, the most complicated thing is leaving…and arriving on the pontoon!” he declared, just after arriving back from his first sail. In any case, his adversaries have been warned: Armel will be the skipper at the start of the Rhum 2014. Meanwhile, Banque Pop VII will be attacking the Mediterranean, to try and take Thomas Coville’s singlehanded record. A good warm-up!
