Ellida 55 trimaran, vastness on three hulls
We all know that the only limit is that of our imagination... The architect Gildas Plessis, a real multihull enthusiast for many years, has once again proved this by presenting his new project, called Ellida.
This is a 55-metre trimaran which offers the accommodation of a 70-meter yacht, whilst remaining fast... It must be said that the challenge isn’t simple, with an unladen displacement estimated at 200 tonnes. To succeed in sailing at a top speed of 17 knots, the trimaran is going to be equipped with 4 engines (two in the central hull and one in each float), with a power of 412kW per engine. More than the consumption, which is inevitably outrageous (271 l/hr at 17 knots – but ‘only’ 43 l/hr at 10 knots), it’s the boat’s design which attracts attention in this extraordinary project...
