‘Les Voiles de Saint Barth’
In just a few years, 'Les Voiles de St Barth’ has become one of the most important competitions in the Caribbean...
Created in 2010, the event has established the principle of allowing all sailing boats, whatever their rating or size, to come and race. This year, events took place under the sign of the multihull, as around ten boats had made the trip, including the former Foncia, the MOD 70 now in the colours of Phaedo. On the line, we also found the 60-foot trimaran Paradox, some Gunboats, a TS 52.8, an Outremer and even some Formula 40s... At the finish (and no surprise), Phaedo 3 won, but the battle for the podium between the Gunboat Elvis and the trimaran Paradox was fierce. In the end the catamaran beat the trimaran, with the same number of points, but a greater number of second places.
Les Voiles de St Barth also allowed us a glimpse of the new Gunboat G4, the first cruising catamaran equipped with foils, which literally flies over the waves. The beautiful orange G4’s adventure came to an end with a capsize on a downwind leg at over 25 knots (see the video on our web site). Fortunately without injuries or too much damage to the boat.
