Tahiti Pearl Regatta
What could be better than going to race in Tahiti... This year, the Tahiti Pearl Regatta was celebrating its 12th edition, and the three days’ racing were intense.
A first day with a light breeze, then the trade winds returned and the racing took place in dazzling sunshine. According to all the competitors, sailing in these conditions, on such a stretch of water, in the heart of the idyllic scenery of the Polynesian Leeward Islands, remains a privilege and a pleasure that every sailor should experience.
In the multihull class, the racing was hotly disputed between Superflux (Neel 45) and Ecolo'Cat, (designed by NG Yacht Design), which are looking to challenge Pearl Romance Mooreaand Makatea’susual supremacy. Despite a few frights, and several reversals of fortune, Makateawas in first place on the eve of the final day’s racing, and Pearl Romance was regularly threatened but never dropped by Ecolo’Cat But at the finish, Pearl Romance Moorea,Pierre Cosso’s Outremer 45 retained its title...
