McConaghy MC50 catamaran
McConaghy has only just presented its new range of catamarans but has already announced the sale of the very first example of the MC50CAT, following the Düsseldorf Boat Show.
The Australian company, founded in 1967 by John McConaghy to build Tornados, Class As and other little prototypes in ply/epoxy (!), has developed. Being based in China today allows it to offer a modern catamaran designed by Jason Ker, whose ‘balconied’ cockpit with twin wheels, traveler forward of the helm, rotating carbon mast and completely uninterrupted visibility is trying to attract to catamarans the owners of prestigious monohulls, who want a fast cruising boat which is pleasant to helm for former monohull sailors! The opening and direct cockpit-accommodation access concept differs from the flybridge, as it puts the helmsman and crew members at the center of the boat’s life.
The n°1 in the series will be seen early in 2017.
