"One cannot control the sea so one must be able ta control everything on board a boat".
It took 18 months conceiving, followed by numerous models, before the duo Joubert-Nlvelt produced Venezia catamaran, the new 42 footer from Fontaine-Pajot that Is destined to replace the "Fidji" and the "Casamance" catamarans, not an easy thing to ask of any boat.
True to his reputation however, Michel Joubert did not plan on constructing a heavy boat that slowly drags out each navigation between stops. Streamlied hulls fore with wide hull aft, big sail surface with a well cut main and solent jib (instead of a genoa) make this cat very fast indee . An anti-drift design also helps it to close haul very well.
I had a chance to test these points at La Rochelle when a days sailing was orqanised with 25/30 knots of wind plus gusts blowing . Our average speed was 8 knots, from time to time 9 knots in the gusts.
