Tricat 25 sport trimaran: three times more fun
Some boats’ reputations go before them. Which means that we poor testers have to find out if they actually deliver. In the case of the Tricat 25 Sport trimaran, I knew, even before I got on board, that I would not be disappointed.
Following on from the 22, Tricat has launched its production of the Tricat 25 Sport trimaran, a little less ‘extreme’ in terms of performance and responsiveness, but with a pretty strong selling point: the Tricat 25 Sport trimaran is a larger four berth. The cockpit is pretty spacious, and can comfortably fit up to 7 crew members for a day trip. On the two versions, Standard and Sport, the one in question, the jib is the same but the surface area of the full mainsail increases from 22 m2 to 25 m2. The spinnaker measures 38 m2 and fits onto the dolphin nose. The largest difference is in terms of centre-board. The single, central, pivoting board on the standard version is transformed, on the sport version of the Tricat 25 Sport trimaran, into two dagger-boards, one on each of the outer hulls.
