Not a lot a lot of people know this, yet: Nathaniel Herreshoff was, at the end of the 19th century, the first architect to design a modern multihull.

It was a small, 7.6m catamaran, named Amaryllis. In 1877, the brilliant architect created Tarentella; this little 31-foot rocket reached 18 knots! It was to have sister ships, named: Orion, Teaser, John, Gilpin, Lodala.
A work dedicated to another of his creations, entitled ‘Mariette, les Goélettes d'Herreshoff', written by Jacques Tglang, will soon be brought out by the publisher, LT Yachting. A ‘must' for lovers of beautiful boats.
