In recent years, multihulls have emerged to play the role of the waterborne “GT”.  Machines capable of maintaining a minimum of 10 knots under sail, making averages close to 20 with peaks at 30, yet without giving up the cozy comfort that one usually finds on a superyacht.  At the editorial office we baptized them “Sport Yachts”. We are talking about craft such as Gunboat, Tag and HH, for which no superlative is big enough.  Our Bañuls 60 was conceived and designed by Raphael Blot in this spirit, with the ambitious goal of achieving excellence on the water, with elegance, speed and ease of sailing. He called on Renaud Bañuls for the design and to McConaghy Boats for the construction.  The combination of a naval architect who took part in the success of BMW Oracle at the America’s Cup and a yard that produces the most beautiful and sophisticated racing boats in the world, such as Wild Oats, for example, can surely only be a good thing.  The measuring of the ingredients is precise, and they are then ingeniously distilled.  Together with Thomas Coville as technical advisor, the trio set out a specification around a sleek design:  a minimalist but luxurious finish, unprecedented but...
