The Island Spirit 525e is certainly not a catamaran like any other... Designed from the outset as a sailing cruising multihull equipped with hybrid propulsion capable of covering long distances, it stands out thanks to several innovations in both its design and energy efficiency. The largest model in the range, the 525e is actually just over 51 feet in length with a fairly modest displacement just short of 36,500 pounds (16.5 tons).
A Highly Innovative Open-plan Design
At first sight, this catamaran looks like many others, with modern lines and fairly straight hulls accentuated by long portholes in the topsides. The windshield and main deck windows are very vertical, allowing for greater living space, better visibility, and limiting the greenhouse effect. The 525e also features a genuine flybridge with T-Top. Viewed from ahead, the Island Spirit shows high, slender bows with a foredeck perched well above the water, while the voluminous nacelle hints at good live-aboard qualities.
