There was a pleasant surprise in store for us on the pontoons at La Grande-Motte during the International Multihull Show: the first production Excess Hybrid was there on display! And with good news like this tending to bring more good news, we learned that this option would be available on all Excess models!

But that was on the pontoon. Here at Multihulls World, as you know, we prefer to cast off and talk to you about multihulls... which is exactly what we did aboard the Excess 11 Hybrid #1 in Spain, near Barcelona. We recorded a maximum speed of 7.2 knots with a range of two hours (three hours at 5 knots). The Fisher Panda motors are 10 kW pods, each powered by a 22-kWh battery. The 22-kW generator is therefore able to fully recharge the battery bank in under two hours.
It should be noted that this hybrid option comes at an additional cost of “only” € 84,000 (excluding tax). This is still a lot for a model starting at € 342,900, but it remains below the symbolic 25%, a guarantee of the widespread adoption of this more environmentally friendly mode of propulsion.
