This week, we’re taking you to the British Virgin Islands for seven days of family sailing aboard a Moorings 5000 (Leopard 50).
On the itinerary: Tortola, Cooper Island, Saba Rock, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada… Exploring these islands and anchorages means short sails of one to three hours per day, except for a beautiful longer crossing to Anegada, a flat coral island set slightly apart from the rest of the archipelago. As for the crew, while Charlotte is already an experienced young sailor, it’s a first for Mahé and Marceau! Also on board: Aude, Joffrey, Laurie, Quentin, Pierre-Yves… and me, Maria. A true nine-person adventure, filled with time under sail, laughter at anchor, and the logistics of life as a floating tribe.
We’ll also be sharing our sailing experience aboard the Moorings 5000: seaworthiness, cabin comfort, the layout of the convivial galley, how the outdoor spaces work for children… We’ll tell you whether this catamaran is truly well designed for family cruising.
