Florence Arthaud

Florence made part of multihull and offshore racing history, and in a way part of the history of this magazine with her victory in the 1990 Route du Rhum, right under the noses of some of the finest sailors of the day, proving that skill is more important that physical strength, even (and particularly) on a boat.
An exceptional sailor, woman of character and conviction, Florence loved the sea and said she could never be far from it. This well-known and outspoken free spirit will be sorely missed by us all…
