I found myself briefly protected from the swell in an atoll facing a large coral reef, in the south of the Maldives. In the heart of this archipelago, most of the anchorages have this layout. Fortunately for me, it’ s the right season and the winds are light. Tonight, the trade winds weaken until the stillness of the night. The stars are reflected in the water, like on a lake. A large shadow suddenly blurs these sparkling lights. It is with great surprise that I discover that the boat has been encircled by a number of nurse sharks. We can easily recognize them with their very small eyes on the angles of their very flat heads. ...
