Still on the subject of safety, AIS is an undeniable ‘plus’ aboard our ocean cruising boats, as it allows you to ‘see’ the vessels around you, and above all, to know their speed and therefore any possible collision course. The new AIS to be presented by Digital Yacht at the coming ‘Nautic de Paris’ boat show is the AIT5000, a class B transponder with a 5W transmitting power for better range, even in heavy traffic areas.
