For the first time, and through a strange combination of circumstances, we left France after Christmas to celebrate the New Year together under the Caribbean sun in the BVI (a British territory east of Puerto Rico, with the archipelago’s other islands groups being the US Virgins Islands and the Spanish Virgin Islands). The BVI are strongly influenced by their neighbor, and we found a very “American” set up. Everything was well organized, and you can reserve your mooring ball online the same day. Having left the cold of a French December, we were now enjoying the sun on islands which were not very busy for this time of year. The beaches were magnificent, with white sand and crystalline waters. We were able to swim in the colorful creeks and rocks of Virgin Gorda: that’s really not to be missed! We rented a scooter to go around the island of Anegada: a great experience with American bars on the north side along the beaches.
