“Our adventure has been maturing over more than four years. I’m 33, my husband is 39, and we have two girls, aged 7 and 8. I am a professional singer, and my husband is a young retired sailor. Thanks to the 16 years spent in the French Navy, he has travelled to the four corners of the globe, and now wants to share his taste for travel with us. The idea of sailing round the world came from a conversation with friends. After the initial questions, the idea began to captivate me, and we finally launched ourselves into the project. We had to learn to sail, before putting our house up for sale, and of course, looking for a boat! After having sailed for two years in the Var region of France aboard an 8-meter monohull, the choice of a multihull was unanimous. We found what we were looking for in the summer of 2014, and have been living aboard since 1st April 2015. This short experience has already allowed us to improve our daily life and make the necessary changes to the accommodation. We are planning to weigh anchor in the middle of September; the preparations are coming to an end and l’Eclectik is starting to look like a long-term cruising boat. We have equipped it with solar panels and gel batteries, a generator, a watermaker, a long-range wi-fi aerial, AIS and a diving compressor. We have been lucky enough to be listed as performers at the Club Med, which will allow us to stop for a while and take a break in all the Clubs we find on our way. The concept is simple and is a very good deal: we perform for two hours per night, myself singing and my husband on the guitar, and we are entitled to as many guests as there are performers, which will allow us to stay in the clubs with our girls for periods of one to two weeks.”

Maryline, Jean-Philippe, Chloé and Célia, aboard: L’Eclectik.
