"We are now a long way from the Caribbean and its Creole rhythms. How can I describe it? This part of the world abounds with natural, photogenic marvels which we can only admire. And just to add to this visual feast, the subtle aromas of vanilla, gardenia, pineapple, lemons and homemade monoi oil, envelop us in a surreal atmosphere, far, far away from the stress of modern life. Here, in this French territory, man has learnt to match his pace of life to that of nature. The atolls for us, are as beautiful as the islands in the breeze. For the first time the children have discovered scuba diving using an oxygen tank. They are each accompanied by an instructor, in front of the Tiputa Pass in Rangiroa atoll...
On the way back to Tahiti we stopped off at Mooréa, and just beyond the reef we had our most wonderful encounter. A whale and her calf passed by. The sea really is beautiful, powerful, wild and mysterious. Rather like our own Maurienne mountains in France, which we think about regularly."
