2026 Multipower Buyer's Guide

30 to 40 feet

While this category of multipowers has for a while been the norm in the United States, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean, this is much less the case in Europe, where monohulls are still holding their own. But we’re seeing the emergence of many new players in this market sector, who are convinced – and justifiably so - that the multihull formula meets a growing demand. These new models are most often characterized by their meticulous design. However, they also incorporate a wide variety of models - from the Open designed for shoal draft waters to the comfortable Cruiser that can accommodate you for weeks at a time on board, or even the catamaran designed just for big game fishing. The common theme: all these models are easy to handle thanks to their twin engines and their still modest size.

HopYacht 30

A Version Without Sails, but Still Electric

Forever Green
The HopYacht we tested a couple of years ago now in Greece enthralled us with a very simple concept: to offer a simple, economical multihull based around a large double bed which, of course, offers an unobstructed sea view. Though somewhat iconoclastic, this catamaran proved very easy to sail, with its large furling genoa. The brand’s French distributor, MV Yachting, has just announced an even more basic version, stripped of its rig. But of course, the electrical system is retained, providing 8 hours of autonomy at 4.2 knots (or just over 30 nautical miles), with no CO2 emissions or noise pollution. For recharging, you’ll need to rely on a shore power outlet and/or 1,600 W of solar panels. The yard has announced a new 36-foot model for next year.

ArrowCat 320

Luxurious and Well-finished

The ArrowCat 320 is a successful model - now in its third generation. The smallest of the ArrowCat range, it features a luxurious finish - rare in compact powercats - such as a wooden steering wheel, or modern, full instrumentation on a carbon-look dashboard. Inside, the manufacturer has paid particular attention to the owner’s cabin. The 320 is powered by two outboard motors. The limited beam of 10 feet (3.05 m) allows the boat to be transported by road in certain countries such as the United States. In addition, ArrowCat, based in Clearwater (Florida), also offers a little 20-foot powercat, the ArrowCat 20, but also, a 420, again equipped with outboards, and available in a Coupe or Flybridge version.

Builder: ArrowCat Power Catamarans
Length: 31’2” (9.50 m)
Beam: 10’ (3.05 m)
Draft: 20” (0.51 m)
Displacement: 9,900 lbs (4.49 t)

Powertrain: 2 x 225/300 HP outboards

Four Winns TH33

A Compact Day-cruiser

NEW
The Four Winns TH33, unveiled in a world premiere at Cannes, is a day cruiser so compact that it almost feels like you’re aboard a monohull bow rider. And yet the powercat boasts a respectable freeboard. At the helm station, two large forward-facing seats accommodate the helmsman and a passenger. The full windshield echoes the iconic Four Winns curve, and a T-top is available as an option. Wide access to the central cockpit and bathroom improves traffic flow. An outdoor galley features a sink, refrigerator, and optional electric grill. In total, the deck offers 400 square feet (37 m²) of usable space. The large storage space can be converted into a mini cabin, which can be accessed by removing the cushions and opening a door, though this could do with being lighter. The heads compartment is cleverly separated.
