2026 Multipower Buyer's Guide

50 to 60 feet

Aboard a multipower of 50 to 60 feet in length, we’re getting into a world of great comfort on the water - a quality of life that is little different from our life ashore. Unrestricted energy and an XXL payload form a big part of this, and living aboard for long periods can make this quite apparent! As for the length of the hulls, this ensures seakindly behavior, even in heavy weather. The large capacity of the tanks allows for lengthy passagemaking, sometimes ocean crossings - provided that the revs are not pushed too high.

Whisper 50

A New Range of Forever Green Mulipowers

NEW
Forever Green
Symphony Marine is getting into the market for 40- to 60-foot electric catamarans. Guy Marchal, the founder of the Whisper-Yachts brand, asked Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design to draw this environmentally friendly catamaran with 430 square feet (40 m²) of solar panels (6 kWp), a 240-kWh battery bank and two 50 or 100-kW Torqeedo electric motors.
The Whisper 50 should be able to provide “clean” propulsion at 5/6 knots. It can of course sail faster - up to 14 knots - but at that speed, recharging the batteries is necessary through the generator. The deck layout does not seem to inhibit the surface area of the solar panels - many areas remain well clear.
Inside, the nacelle offers a decent surface area, generously bordered by sliding windows. The manufacturer offers a three or four-cabin version.

Aquila 50 Yacht

A Full-width Owner’s Cabin

Test in Special Issue #23
Launched late 2023, the Aquila 50 Yacht features a new design with a sharp break in the deck line – the forward two-fifths are significantly taller. This raised section allows the forward sections of the catamaran to be better defended, while offering XXL volume to the forward owner’s cabin – this, in fact, occupies the entire available beam while remaining within the nacelle. With its bulbous bows and particularly well-protected forward section, the Aquila 50 Yacht is not afraid of bigger seas. The shipyard now offers the option of a foil kit.

Leen 51

A Very Attractive Design!

NEW
Forever Green
This model features much smaller floats and, above all, longer bows than those of the Leen 56 and 72, which are disappearing from the catalog.
The superstructures are quite similar to those of a Neel. The only regret is that the famous Portuguese bridge of the former models, which totally protected the side-decks, and the interior ...
