According to the many boating professionals we spoke with over the course of the six day show (actually nearly three weeks for our team, if we include the boat tests organized before and after the show), the 2026 vintage is shaping up to be a solid one. Admittedly, it’s a far cry from the euphoria of the post-Covid period, but this edition was nonetheless far more compelling than last year’s. And the novelty factor clearly hit the mark: this year, we counted no fewer than 23 multihulls making their world premieres. An all-time record!
For us, as a media outlet specializing in both sailing and power multihulls, such a concentration of new releases calls for a full-scale effort to bring them to your attention. Real-time videos and news, guided tours in landscape format, and test sails, of course: that was our packed Mediterranean schedule. Sometimes we had to cover several multihulls in a single day, covering a few nautical miles at full speed between two ports, or handling boat transfers, but at other times, the pace was much more leisurely…
In this issue, you’ll find most of the new models we discovered at Cannes. But a multihull - as enticing as it may be just a stone’s throw from the famous La Croisette boulevard is obviously not meant to stay moored at a dock. And that’s where the second part of the story begins: setting sail, heading further out, changing anchorages, countries, and sometimes even continents.
This issue of Multihulls World is thus largely dedicated to voyages on two- or three-hulled boats. You’ll follow along on the transatlantic passage of Aurore and her father - the builder of the famous Punch yachts - Louis’s off-season cruise in Croatia, and Paul’s week-long skippered charter in Greece. Three very different ways of sailing, but the same joy of casting off. All these adventures and discoveries are rounded out by seven pages of Postcards from all the oceans and seas around the globe.
Ultimately, after spending three weeks discovering brand-new multihulls, there’s nothing quite like reconnecting with those who actually sail them. After all, that’s what they’re made for!
Enjoy reading… and watching the videos!
