However this architecture hasn’t been a favorite with the racers for the last thirty years or so. While the Volvo Ocean Race has decided to continue sailing round the world in monohulls, the organizers have launched the idea that, for the next edition, multihull racing should take place during the stopovers. The idea behind the Volvo Proa is to meet these needs…                                                                                                  With 66 m² of sail and an unladen weight of 480 kg, 15 m long and 8.4 m wide, the machine is of course equipped with foils, flies from 6 knots of wind, and sails at over 30 knots in 20 knots of breeze… A nice machine, whose build price is estimated by the architect at 150,000 euros.
