As a professional instructor convinced by the folding trimaran formula, Thomas Wilson wanted to sail aboard a sleek, fast and compact multihull.
The specifications imposed three key factors: a length of 33 feet to be able to take part in RORC racing, including the Fastnet; a folded width not exceeding 3.5 m (11’6”), which is the maximum width allowed on British and European roads without becoming a special load; and a MOCRA rating of less than 1.5. The project, entrusted to YDC, has resulted in a trimaran as seductive as it is explosive, with peak speeds of 30 knots expected...
The Cape WT10 is due to be built by Cape Performance in South Africa. The first model, ordered by Thomas and his wife, will be used by White Tip Race Academy Ltd, the racing school the couple have just set up in Haslar, near Portsmouth, on the south coast of England.
