Electric Bali Models Coming Soon?

Although the builder of Bali and Catana catamarans does not currently offer electric propulsion in its range, the subject has never been ruled out by the design office; the first hybrid Catana prototype was launched about fifteen years ago.

At Nice Boating Tomorrow, an electric Bali Catsmart was on display. This unit, also a prototype, allows the manufacturer to validate technical solutions consistent with the smart control interface developed for the Bali 5.8 and 5.2. Notable choices include more powerful motors (here, 15 kW) installed on saildrives, a 48 kWh battery, and two 6 kW alternators. This architecture, fully operational, appeared highly refined and impressed us with its quiet operation. The builder is also working to make this hybrid propulsion system more accessible, targeting an additional cost limited to around 10% of the base price.
