These will be completely new models - no existing elements from any of the Bénéteau Group's motor catamarans have been incorporated. Development of the range has been entrusted to Camilo Garroni, historical designer of the Prestige rang, and the aim is obviously to focus on the DNA of the brand even though this multihull project is obviously very different from their previous craft - all with one hull... The first model, the M-48, should be launched very soon (first official presentation will be at the Cannes Yachting Festival). The design of the hulls has been entrusted to Philippe Briand. The manufacturer has decided to offer a relatively modest maximum speed (less than 20 knots) thanks to less powerful engines - and therefore less expensive and less thirsty in diesel. Two Volvo powertrain options have been proposed by the manufacturer: 2 x 270 and 2 x 320 HP. Consumption will be kept down to around 1.3 US gallons (5 liters) per mile. However, the ambition of the M-48 is not ocean passage-making - the range varies between 250 nautical miles at 18 knots and 600 miles at 8 knots. On deck, there is a vast 215-square foot (20 m²) flybridge and an electric multi-purpose platform, which slides between the sugarscoops to form a huge 20-foot (6-meter) wide terrace. Inside, the galley is offset to starboard and has a generous U-shaped work surface complemented by a side unit. This central arrangement allows for fluid circulation inside the 235-square foot (22 m²) nacelle. The underside of the nacelle is relatively low, to privilege interior volume, but its design optimizes passage through the sea. A cabin dedicated to the Owner is found at the front: this exploits over 16 feet (5 meters) of available width, allowing a beautiful total area of 194 square feet (18 m²).
