The idea is to offer a genuine sailing “base camp,” capable of serving as an autonomous platform for exploring the most remote regions. The larger sibling of the Explocat 52 therefore features an interior wheelhouse protected by reverse-angle forward windows and a flybridge with a remarkably well-protected forward section.

Skiing, diving, kayaking, paragliding or exploring ashore: activities carried out at anchor have directly influenced the design. The aft deck is kept largely clear to make preparing and handling equipment easier, while storage volumes can be adapted to suit the intended program. Two tenders are planned: the first, a lightweight model, is carried on an integrated ramp aft on the port hull; the second, larger tender is stored on the flybridge and handled using a crane.

The future 62, 72 and 82 will be offered on a semi-custom basis: layouts, technical spaces, storage and crew arrangements can all be adapted to suit individual requirements. Garcia is even considering Charter Expedition and Scientific Expedition versions, with the latter potentially incorporating equipment required for collecting and analyzing samples or deploying scientific equipment. Shaped aluminum construction, double glazing, thermal insulation and central heating naturally retain the builder’s fundamental principles.
