Out will go the Lagoon 50 launched in 2017, following a (relatively) short career, to be replaced in the coming months by the Lagoon 51. The announcement was discreet, featuring only a single image of a view over the starboard quarter and just a few lines - along with a short video - published on the shipyard’s website on December 23.
So, what's new compared to the 50? At first glance, not much as far as the design of the hulls and the nacelle are concerned. However, we note that the sugarscoops appear significantly longer. The raised cockpit and the sunbathing areas, still accessible from both sides, are transformed into a real flybridge, completed by a forward sun-lounging space. And the mast stepped on the coachroof, along with the sacrosanct self-tacking jib? It seems that these ideas have disappeared... Have Lagoon taken a step “astern”, by putting the rig at the front of the nacelle? We’ll be finding out more very soon!
