Here’s a strong signal: Lagoon, the world’s leading builder of cruising catamarans, is launching a refit service with a manufacturer’s warranty. This new business activity is being handled by one of Groupe Bénéteau’s shipyards, at Monfalcone in Italy, and has already been put through its paces with the refit of a 2012 Lagoon 620.
Firefly, successively operated by a private owner and then as a charter yacht, was taken over by Lagoon in February 2024 so that the Neo project team could put the concept into practice - this catamaran will be on display at the Les Occasions du Multicoque et du Refit boat show at Canet-en-Roussillon in the South of France from October 11 to 13. This new activity - unprecedented among the major builders - is part of Groupe Bénéteau’s Sailing for Change program, a global commitment to more environmentally-friendly boating. Lagoon offers three levels of refit - the second incorporates lithium batteries and solar panels, while the third includes hull wrapping. At the end of a 4-6 month refit, the catamaran will be (re)delivered as new, with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty. The Lagoon 620 is the first model eligible for this program, but other models will soon be added to this new offer.
