The good news is that the seas have become more regular and conditions are comfortable once again. To improve his course under spinnaker, Éric has modified the sail's tack attachment point, originally secured to a short bowsprit, moving it forward toward the bow using a triangulated setup. This adjustment now allows him to sail at an angle of 165° to the true wind, optimizing his route toward Guadeloupe without sacrificing speed.
The day also brought a delightful little interlude for the solo sailor: several seabirds came to play around the catamaran, repeatedly diving into the water to catch fish nearby. "That really was the highlight of the day!" A welcome sight after a month spent alone in the middle of the Atlantic.
But Éric is also keeping a close eye on the official Route du Rhum race tracker. His personal challenge remains unchanged: to reach Pointe-à-Pitre before the race leaders! Beyond the symbolic achievement, there's also a practical reason: passage through the Canal des Saintes could be closed to other vessels during certain race arrivals. So it's better to get through ahead of them.
Éric is particularly watching the progress of the trimaran SVR-Lazartigue, which was leading according to his observations, while keeping an eye on his favorite, Sodebo Ultim 3, lying third at the time of his message. "Nothing's decided yet, and I think Thomas can do it!" A message of encouragement for Thomas Coville, whose race Éric is following with enthusiasm.
For Skiboo 2, the priority is obviously to negotiate the final miles and the approach to Guadeloupe. After a month of nonstop sailing powered entirely by the wind, Éric can finally see the finish line of his incredible adventure.
