The oldest transatlantic race dates from 1866. The New York Yacht Club organized what was then its first transatlantic race in the direction of England. It was during one of these races (in 1905), that Charlie Barr established a record (12 days and 4 hours) from New York to the Lizard. A record which was only beaten by Eric Tabarly, after… 92 years!
