One might have thought that the market for production trimarans over 40 feet (12.2 m) would come to a halt after Neel and Rapido. That assumption may have been premature, however, as a new brand is entering the multihull world: VMG (Velocity Made Good).
Based in New York but supported by an international team, the young company has announced the construction of its first model, the VMG 53.
This 53-foot (16.0 m) trimaran is designed to combine the DNA of offshore racing multihulls - delivering high performance and exhilarating helm sensations - with the comfort and capabilities of a true blue water cruising yacht. To bring the project to life, VMG has assembled several renowned names from the boating industry. The naval architecture has been entrusted to VPLP Design, while Christophe Chedal Anglay is responsible for the interior design and Thorne Yacht Design for the engineering.
Construction of the first unit is currently underway in Cape Town, South Africa, at Evolution Marine Manufacturing, with launch scheduled for January 2027.
