Sailing clothing

We start with a full Tribord Ozéan outfit: jacket and salopettes with top and bottom base layer plus the dedicated fleece as well as the boots (all distributed by Decathlon), which was used during two tests (Tricat 30’ trimaran and Eos 54’ catamaran) carried out at the end of November 2016. These two tests took place in a force 4 to 6 north-easterly, with a temperature of 5°C at 8 am and 12°C in the middle of the day. Result: The jacket, in bright red Beaufort 3L Novadry material, is resistant and looks good, without being stiff. All the stitching is reinforced on the interior by a glued waterproof tape; the cut is comfortable and elegant. The strong points: water resistance, breathability, fluorescent hood adjustable intuitively in 2 dimensions with shape memory, very high, comfortable collar lined with 300g fleece, rubber wrist-band and Velcro adjustment for water resistance, visibility through numerous reflective strips, large cargo pockets + fleece-lined hand warmer pockets (reversible for drying), reinforced back extension, central corrosion-resistant zip closure. The salopettes are manufactured in the same material – the seat, knee and ankle reinforcements, which provide great comfort in use without affecting mobility, were appreciated. The boots are elegant, lightweight (65% leather, 25% Novadry membrane) and really comfortable, with excellent foot retention and a good grip pattern on the sole (which doesn’t mark decks). With the base layer undergarments and the fleece as a second layer, I enjoyed perfect insulation from the cold wind (occasionally 35 knots apparent, but fortunately little spray) during these two days at sea, which would probably have been very uncomfortable with unsuitable equipment. I particularly appreciated: the outfit’s looks, the design-manufacture of the collar and the hood, the numerous reinforcements (jacket and salopettes), the sturdy construction, the value for money.
