We bought our Lagoon 380 in January 2015. Why this particular model? Before making our purchase, we rented lots of different catamarans from different shipyards. We had never previously sailed on our own and needed to clock up some nautical miles. Also, the two years of preparations were punctuated with lots of sailing, just to keep our hands in. We had to make some modifications, notably the installation of a desalinator, solar panels and a small washing machine, plus the purchase of a new dinghy and a full service for the engines. We freed up one cabin to turn it into a dressing room. We had to set off some time, and we impatiently waited for a weather window. It opened up on the 15th October. We left Port de Bouc in lightly cloudy conditions and in heavy swell. This morning, we are heading for the Balearics. Then it will be Madeira, the Canaries and Cape Verde, before crossing the Atlantic and making for Salvador de Bahia in Brazil. We’re off…
