More Comfort, and Very Discretely…

With 2025 having seen its fair share of new models, including the FP41, FP44, and Power 80, Fountaine Pajot is keeping the momentum going by unveiling three new sailing catamarans this year: the FP48, FP55, and FPY 70S. The first of these new 2026 models to splash, the FP48, is replacing the very popular Tanna 47, taking on its role as a family cruiser while moving significantly upmarket. We took the helm of hull #1, equipped with the ODSea+ hybrid electric propulsion system, off the coast of La Rochelle.

The FP48 retains Fountaine Pajot’s visual identity. Yet behind these familiar lines lies a design clearly focused on greater comfort and autonomy.

Despite its substantial displacement, the FP48 remains relatively nimble in light air - a pleasant surprise! The design of the lines and the extended keels partly explain this performance.

A Success in the Making

Replacing a best-seller has never been an easy task. With over a hundred FP41s sold, nearly 115 FP44s ordered in less than two years, and already about sixty FP48s on order even before its official unveiling at the Cannes Yachting Festival, Fountaine Pajot is nevertheless demonstrating that its renewal strategy is paying off despite a market that has become more hesitant. The FP48 makes no breaks with the brand’s stylistic identity. At first glance, only the most attentive observers will notice a slightly more generous freeboard or redesigned hull windows. The real challenge lay precisely in incorporating more interior volume without making the catamaran look bulky. Mission accomplished: the newcomer retains balanced proportions and an instantly recognizable elegance. Though 20” (49 cm) longer, 8” (20 cm) wider, and significantly more livable, the FP48 still has a displacement that’s 8,100 lbs (3.68 t) greater - a change fortunately accompanied by a slightly more powerful sail plan.
