Metstrade is the world’s largest marine trade show, and it’s held in Amsterdam every year in mid-November. Our equipment specialist, Véronique Largeau, is taking a look at some of the new products you won’t want to miss!
Winner of the DAME Award in the Propulsion & Dynamics category, the Dometic DG3 is ushering in a new generation of fully electric gyrostabilizers for 35- to 41-foot boats. At METSTRADE, Eric Fetchko, President of Dometic Marine, presented a product that is the result of many years of customer feedback and designed to simplify life for crews while reducing both installation and maintenance requirements.
The DG3 uses a 48 V lithium battery dedicated to spin-up, i.e., the rotor’s acceleration, which is regeneratively recharged during spin-down, a controlled deceleration phase that recovers some of the kinetic energy. This operation limits the load on the main power supply and helps reduce the system’s overall power consumption. Powered by 12, 24, or 48 V, the DG3 integrates with multifunction displays via Ethernet, allowing direct control from the on-board ecosystem. Dometic also announces significantly reduced maintenance, with no intervention required for the first three years thanks to the absence of a hydraulic circuit and a protective cover that can be removed in a matter of minutes.
On multihulls under 45 feet, and particularly on narrower powercats, the DG3 provides an immediate gain in comfort and stability.

At the helm of Dometic Marine for the past seven years, Eric Fetchko combines nearly forty years of engineering experience in the same industrial structure with regular sailing. This dual experience is reflected in his product presentations: he approaches equipment by emphasizing both improved usability and technical sophistication - the two being linked. At Metstrade, when presenting the DG3, he emphasized this common thread that has run through his entire career: offering solutions that are more reliable, easier to use, and truly adapted to the situations that boaters encounter every day.
