With its new IP67-rated Mac Plus DC-DC charge converters, Mastervolt is targeting vessels where energy management has become a central issue - namely, most of our recent cruising multihulls.
In practical terms, this type of equipment makes it possible to manage and stabilize energy exchange between different battery banks operating at different voltages. Aboard a catamaran or trimaran now equipped with powerful lithium-ion batteries and solar panels - and even capable of providing hydrogen generation - there is also a complete onboard electronics suite, a desalination unit, and very often an air-conditioning system; in this context, the DC-DC converter now plays an important role in onboard energy management. The Mac Plus range is built on bidirectional technology that allows recharging both the engine batteries and the service (hotel) batteries. Mastervolt also highlights compatibility with lithium-ion and LiFePO4 batteries, as well as easy integration with onboard electronic networks via the NMEA 2000, MasterBus, and CZone protocols. Designed for installations exposed to moisture, the new models feature IP67 waterproof protection and a reinforced aluminum enclosure. Several units can also be mounted in parallel to increase charging capacity onboard.
