Aquila 42 Coupe

The Carbon Foil Like You’ve Never Seen It!

The 2020/2021 health crisis, environmental challenges, and the ever-increasing size of boats have caused - and continue to cause - many difficulties for indoor boat shows. Still, this type of format has one undeniable advantage: it often makes it possible to observe hulls and other appendages up close.

For Aquila Catamarans’ very first appearance at boot Düsseldorf, we were able - together with Alain Raas, the brand’s director - to take a closer look at the two steps that promote lift, and above all at the impressive carbon foil that links the two hulls of the 42 Coupe. This model, which we discovered at the World Premiere in Miami almost a year ago, managed to reach 40 knots during our sea trials off Saint-Raphaël last September, thanks to lift from this foil amounting to 30% to 40% of the boat’s total displacement.

A full test will be available very soon in Multihulls World!
