Caribbean Multihull Challenge Race and Rally 2026

Day 2: The Promised Return of the Trade Winds…

Robbie Ferron, CMC Race Director, was right; the wind picked up to over 18 knots this Friday, promising great things for the next two days!

In CSA 1, yesterday's races confirmed the real-time superiority of the trimaran Sophia and highlighted the potential of the foiling catamaran Falcon. Her skipper, freshly arrived from the world of classic yachting, quickly learned how to handle his ultra-modern multihull. But on corrected time, it was the Gunboat 70 Layla that ultimately prevailed.

In CSA 2, it was Triple Jack, Richard Woodridge's Kelsal 47, that won the first race ahead of Spike, Sam Talbot's Rapido 40, and Ninth Charm, Appie Stoutenbeek's Newick 38.

The more challenging conditions of the day didn't seem to significantly disrupt the established order – at least not in real time. However, Falcon started flying, hurtling downwind at nearly 25 knots. Quite a show!

As for the Diam 24s, the windward hulls began to rise sharply, which bodes well for the inshore races in Phillipsburg scheduled for Saturday. Meanwhile, the rally participants set sail for Saint-Barth – one almost feels sorry for them…
