Among the 40 multihulls on display at the “Occasions du Multicoque et de Refit” second-hand show, we’ve selected eight models to present to you on video. From the least expensive to the most expensive, we invite you to discover the world of used multihulls! Today we’re discovering a powercat, the Maryland 37.
The model we are presenting here can claim three records: it is the only powercat, it is the least expensive, and it is the oldest! Indeed, the Maryland 37 we are discovering was built in 2004. This was the first power catamaran to be built by Fountaine Pajot - the series began in 1998. At the time, Jean-François Fountaine, co-founder of the shipyard, explained that it was “Above all, a cruising boat, not a speedboat. We wanted to create a vessel that was comfortable to live on.” In fact, the motors were only 75HP standard (with an option of up to 140 HP), which puts the Maryland firmly in the trawler family. Although the deck layout betrays its age a little, the cockpit remains very attractive with its imposing dashboard, and the interior can comfortably accommodate six people.
