Multihull of the Year: the results

600 nautical miles… by computer

A few days before this edition went to press, with the whole Multihulls World team on Skype, I crossed the finish line of the Excess Challenge. A final tack upwind at 7.5 knots, passing close to Cap de la Croisette... After four days at sea - or rather on the computer - I couldn't resist the desire to share my screenshot! Here’s my take on this (very first for me) virtual regatta from Barcelona to Cannes via Minorca and Corsica: I had a great time. Up at night too. However, my virtual adventure started off rather badly. I couldn't find my Excess again in Barcelona, due to an incomplete registration, and I finally understood after two and a half days at sea that I could access to the wind forecasts with only one click... I might as well tell you that my performance towards the end of the course was quite brilliant, compared to the first 200 nautical miles! I have two more tries to sail smarter - and maybe win the famous Excess? I invite you to participate in this adventure, which is really only missing the salt, especially since the yard is currently offering a discount on your Excess Challenge registration (see page 18). Great entertainment while you wait to discover the very first Excess… at the helm this time, for real.

Meanwhile...

As part of the team is struggling to win a virtual regatta and become the proud owner of a catamaran (see the editorial by our dear Emmanuel), the rest of us are working on new plans for your magazine, sailing to new destinations with a crew strengthened by Jours de Passions publishing group.

Now that our big gathering (the International Multihull Show) has been and gone, and the election for Multihull of the Year has brought together all the best of our amazing community, it’s time to look forwards, to some new cruising grounds over the coming years, but of course maintaining all our fundamentals: Multihulls World remains more than ever the magazine for the world of Multihulls, the magazine you love, that’s endorsed by you, and that is made for you and by you.

No need to dream, just know that you’ll continue to be amazed with dream-like destinations and exciting boat tests in anticipation....

Fair winds!

Gerbert Rambaud - General Manager of Jours de Passions

Jean-Christophe Guillaumin - Captain of Multihulls World forever....
