While the Caribbean and the Mediterranean are undeniably the most popular destinations for those chartering a multihull, our blue planet offers many other magical places just waiting to be explored - among them, the islands of Hawaii are sure to impress.
But despite the fact that Hawaii immediately conjures up images of dream beaches and incredible sunsets, chartering there isn’t as popular as in the Caribbean. There are several reasons for this: the distance, as the archipelago is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and a recurring swell (a surfer’s paradise) that can sometimes make cruising a challenge. However, there are a few options available, such as the one offered by Hawaii Sailing Adventures. This charter company has 17 vessels in its catalog – including 6 catamarans. In this section, we’ll be focusing on the flagship model: the Sunreef 62 Blaze 2. This multihull is far from a new model, having been launched in 2007. However, a Sunreef is a Sunreef, offering all the comfort associated with the brand’s catamarans. Furthermore, the model offered for charter by Hawaii Sailing Adventures has a unique feature: it was featured in the Netflix series The Most Amazing Vacation Rentals (Aloha Hawaii, Season 1, Episode 9), giving you a taste of being a movie star… On a more practical note, you can always (re)watch the series to see what awaits you.
Specifically, the Sunreef 62 is an almost 19-meter cruising catamaran offering a generous outdoor area, ideal for relaxing in the sun, enjoying al fresco meals, or gazing at the sea and the horizon. The catamaran also features three comfortable cabins with private bathrooms, accommodating up to 10 passengers, and crew quarters. The multihull is also equipped with a small flybridge, allowing for helming while enjoying breathtaking views of the Hawaiian scenery. In terms of comfort, nothing has been overlooked: queen-size beds, air conditioning for tropical nights, panoramic windows, and a fully equipped galley. To keep guests entertained, the Sunreef 62 is fully equipped with snorkeling gear, kayaks, and paddleboards for exploring the lagoons and coral reefs around the islands, as well as scuba diving equipment and even fishing gear. To make your week-long charter an unforgettable experience, the catamaran boasts a full crew, including an experienced captain - often a local sailor intimately familiar with Hawaiian waters - along with a chef and steward to ensure you have everything you need. All meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are prepared on board according to your preferences or local influences (tropical fruits, fresh fish, Hawaiian fusion cuisine*). The chef can also create customized menus - for example, a beach barbecue after a dive, light meals before a paddleboarding session, and more. Finally, the crew is at your service to plan shore excursions, book local restaurants, or explore the beaches.
Given the size of the archipelago, the sailing options are quite numerous. In a week, for example, you can explore the crystal-clear waters off Kaanapali and try snorkeling in a sheltered bay, then head to Honolua Bay, famous for ...
