In the following pages, you will discover no fewer than 160 powered multihulls from builders all over the world. Without claiming to be exhaustive, we have set out to bring together every model we know of. Each one has its own QR code: scan it to access its full spec sheet, our tests and our videos! It took nearly 30 years for the power multihull market to be recognized as a dynamic sector... Another reversal: long-range, moderate-speed boats, long disparaged, are making a strong comeback, even if the preferred term is now “Explorer” rather than “trawler.” Whatever the name! What matters is enjoying the advantages of two or three hulls: more volume in the bridgedeck, vast deck areas, better behavior at sea and at anchor and, for a comparable program, much lower fuel consumption. On these fronts, monohulls struggle to compete! Today, multipowers are among the most dynamic segments of the boating industry and are attracting considerable investment. Builders from the sailing world or from monohull motor yachts are being joined by newcomers bringing original approaches and new technologies. Multiyachts have been growing strongly since 2015, and sport cruisers under 42 feet are taking off: the range on offer has never been so diverse. Power multihulls really do have the wind in their sails! And not just figuratively: some hybrid designs now combine mechanical propulsion and sail. Electrification is also making great strides. You will find the electric multipowers in this Buyer’s Guide thanks to our Forever Green leaf. More efficient solar panels, higher-capacity batteries and more sophisticated energy management are paving the way for boating that is less dependent on fossil fuels, or even free of direct emissions. What if the power multihull also became a champion of responsible boating?
