Omaya 53

Even More Space on Board

Barely has its 50 been launched and Bulgarian builder Omaya Yachts is already taking advantage of the Cannes Yachting Festival to announce its second model.

The new Omaya 53 uses the platform originally developed with iYacht; the additional three feet are concentrated at the aft end of the hulls, allowing the engines and technical spaces to be moved toward the transoms. This solution frees up more volume in the hulls while moving the machinery farther away from the Owner’s cabin.

With a beam of 27'6" (8.39 m) and a length of 52'7" (16.03 m), the 53 takes the builder’s “space-first” philosophy even further. The aft cockpit becomes a vast, largely open area that can be arranged with movable furniture as desired. A hydraulic platform can be aligned with the deck, lowered to the level of the aft platforms or submerged by around 20" (50 cm). Capable of carrying nearly 882 lb (400 kg), it can also accommodate a tender or jet ski. The same principle applies on the flybridge, where fixed sunpads have largely disappeared in favor of a more flexible space.

In the Owner’s version, the entire port hull is reserved for the main suite, with a central bed facing the hull windows, while two double cabins with private bathrooms occupy the starboard hull. A charter version offers four more evenly sized cabins, also with their own bathrooms, plus separate crew accommodation.
Another important new feature is that the 53 will be the first Omaya designed around Volvo Penta IPS propulsion. Twin D6-IPS400s are planned as standard, with IPS450, 500, 600 or 650 units available as options. Current calculations indicate a top speed of 23 knots, a cruising speed of 15 knots and a range of 650 miles, figures that will obviously need to be confirmed during trials of hull #1.
