The Alva Solar range is now part of Australian manufacturer Sunpower Yachts’ production, and the first 60-foot flybridge model has just splashed in Antalya, Turkey.
In terms of design, this powercat stands out thanks to its bold arches that extend the coachroof, the latter having been significantly widened to protect the side decks and provide maximum surface area for solar panels. Unlike many “solar” powercats, this model still has a sunlounger for the crew - located in the center of the foredeck. The first Solar-E60 has a large flybridge with a helm station, but a Coupe version is also available. “We’re not just building yachts - we’re shaping the future of sustainable luxury,” said Grant Hudson, Director of Sunpower Yachts. “The Solar-E60 demonstrates what’s possible when technology and nature work in harmony.” Thanks to its 20 kWp solar panels, this powercat is able to offer unlimited range at a cruising speed of 4 to 6 knots in full electric mode.
