Just one year ago, in MW180, we presented the famous Moxie, winner of the 1980 OSTAR, and her young skipper Thomas Lurton in a full article and video. At the time, participation in the 2022 Route du Rhum seemed a formality given the fame of the trimaran and the youth of its skipper - born on July 1st 1997.
Unfortunately, the success of the event and more particularly the Rhum Multi class has considerably tightened the conditions of access. But Thomas, after four years of work and training to revive this mythical multihull classified as being of heritage interest, hasn’t given up: under the colors of his new sponsor Bati-Armor, he is in pole position on the waiting list – we’re sure he’ll get there!
