When Ian FARRIER designed the F-27 trimaran, he defined the niche for a trailerable performance cruising trimaran. It may seem  impossible to make a better F-trimaran, but the F-31 center cockpit is a successful effort to improve one of the most popular multihull designs. The first F-31, was built about eight years ago; the basic design has gone through several versions, with the most recent, the F-31 center cockpit becoming a showpiece at the 2000 Annapolis Boat Show. This review will focus primarily on the F-31 center cockpit, but includes comments on the AFT cockpit model. So what do 12 years of experience and 4 extra feet give the F-31 sailor?
